THOUGHTS TO GROW BY
"We each must grow at our own speed and to the degree of our own need, but we each must grow until it's time to pull the blinds for all time."
How to be a Brilliant Idiot
By Rex P. Gamble
ONCE UPON A PLANET an earthquake visited a small Mexican Village leaving in the middle of the main street a huge boulder , it was so big they couldn't move it and so hard they couldn't break it … They couldn't figure out what to do with the boulder … The TOWN IDIOT said, "I'll get rid of the rock for you, but I want to be paid for it." Well, he's the town idiot, so they laughed and ignored him.
They called in engineers and experts from far and wide. After weeks they still didn't know how to get rid of the boulder. Again, the town idiot said, "I'll get rid of the rock for you, but I want to be paid for it." They had tried everything else, so they asked him, "How much do you want?" He answered, "three million pesos." Well, it's going to cost more than that to rearrange the town around the boulder, so they agreed.
Next morning, much to their amazement the rock, as he called it, was gone! You see, the Town Idiot, by profession, was a ditch-digger. All he did was, did a hole, allow the boulder to fall in, covered it up and hauled the excess dirt out of town doing the night. Now, doing this was not what made him brilliant. He was a ditch-digger, so that came easy, didn't it? What made him brilliant was, knowing how much to charge!
Have you recognized the message here yet? We can learn from the old saying, "KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!" Give man enough time and he'll complicate everything!
It's been said: "It's possible to know so much that it's impossible to keep it simple." Two of my favorite subjects: "Learn how to learn and know when you don't know."
IT'S NOT HOW MUCH YOU KNOW THAT MATTERS … IT'S WHAT YOU DO WITH WHAT YOU DO KNOW THAT COUNTS.
